- In a UK first, leading crane hire firm AMC takes delivery of all-new electric fleet
Leading national crane hire firm AMC has taken delivery of its all-new fleet of electric-operated mini cranes, representing a significant six-figure investment and a commitment by the company to be at the forefront of the electric revolution.
AMC has welcomed six Maeda MC285CB-3, and five Hoeflon C6e - the first UK company to do so - fully battery-powered mini cranes, located across its two depots in Liverpool and London, and demonstrating the very best technology in carbon-neutral lifting.
Quickly becoming essential for the lifting industry, AMC is ahead of the curve in recognising the huge capabilities and zero emissions of innovative electric machinery, and now offers its customers modern, high-spec, and environmentally-friendly equipment to fulfill their every lifting need in one go. Health and safety on site also benefits massively as the electric cranes operate silently which greatly improves communications.
The new arrivals have already contributed to AMC winning a number of new contracts in 2021 worth approximately £20,000, including the Moxy Southampton hotel, Livingstone Academy Bournemouth (both using a C6e as work was internal where diesel fumes were not permitted), and Borough Market close to London Bridge. This is in addition to working alongside material manufacturer MICAM at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2, to help replace the iconic ‘Wall Of Honour’ glass sculpture that references the people who helped build Terminal 2.
AMC commented:
"Our mission is to continue innovating as a future-thinking company, so we can provide our customers with more choice, quality, and reliability in bespoke lifting solutions. Our new electric cranes will help us achieve this tenfold and I am proud to see the company leading the competition in this arena. Electric cranes are the future of our industry - and AMC is right there at the front."
Looking ahead as the country slowly eases out of lockdown, they added:
"What the company has achieved in the last 12 months is quite incredible when you consider the challenges we have all faced through the pandemic. We have been brave in our actions by investing in new equipment, creating jobs when other companies made cuts and bringing our existing fleet bang up to date. Our confidence has paid off and we are now in a position to be excited about how the second half of 2021 progresses - especially now with the new electric fleet in place.
“With our electric cranes having an extensive battery life, our commitment to expanding the business while staying sustainable is one that we will continue to stay true to as we move forward."
AMC has also invested in seven eco-friendly cars for its sales team across both depots, including an all-electric Golf and six BMW 330 plug-in hybrids.
Each one of AMC's new electric cranes has been custom painted in the company's new livery in line with the recent vibrant rebrand, and given their own individual name (some named after employees and their families), including Levi and Charlotte, not to mention the mighty Zeus!
Founded in 2009, AMC is a trusted provider in mini crane rental, boasting a fleet of 60-70 mini spider cranes, and over 80 glazing robots and floor cranes, and providing innovative solutions for short and long-term construction projects across the UK.
